In today’s episode of Covering Coastal Carolina, we venture outside of Jacksonville and into the calming waters of Float Spa SF, located in Sneads Ferry. We chat with owner Beth Jones about how Float Spa SF came to be, the benefits of the two therapies offered, and what to expect for first time floaters and freezers.
Beth explains that after two and a half years of firmly believing that these alternative therapies didn’t work, a friend of hers who owned a tank finally convinced her to try it out. They made a deal, “thirty minutes and then we won’t talk about it again”. It didn’t quite turn out the way she was expecting, because those thirty minutes ended up changing her mind and turning her into a firm believer. She started researching and learning, and discovered that the body is fully capable of healing certain aspects of itself, given the right environment.
And that’s where Beth and Float Spa SF come in. We live in a very overloaded world, with our brains constantly being exposed to stimulation. Constant stimulation, constant activity doesn’t allow for the brain to just stop for a little while, and process everything that’s happening to it. Floating provides an environment which allows the brain and body to calm down, unload, and relax. The water in the tanks includes about a thousand pounds of epsom salts, which enables and supports the body is able to actually float without sinking.
Float Spa SF also offers cryogenic therapy, which is all about tricking the body into thinking it’s colder than it actually is. While you might be stepping into temperatures that are near or below freezing levels for short periods of time, your core temperature never goes down. This therapy is generally used for, and incredibly helpful in allowing the body faster recovery times, inflammation and pain reduction, and the added bonus of accelerating one’s metabolism, which “freezes off” between 500 to 800 calories per session.
Beth’s goal with Float Spa SF is to provide a safe space to allow the mind, body, and soul to heal. She is opening a secondary location right outside of Charlotte, and offers a military and first responders discount.
Float Spa SF is located at 1961 NC-172, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460, inside the Four Corners Shopping Center. Float Spa SF is open by appointment, which is easy enough to do on their website. Check out all the amazing packages and book an appointment here: https://www.floatspasf.com/
