In today’s episode of Covering Coastal Carolina, we visit with Aaron Flahardy, GM of Pizza Bonez, in Jacksonville, NC. Opening this President’s Day, the arcade/restaurant/bar is hoping to shake things up and offer a new dining experience. A more human experience.
Aaron shares with us the story and inspiration behind Pizza Bonez, and why the owners wanted to make going out to eat fun again. With entertainment on one side, the bar in the middle, and dining on the other side, there is no doubt that locally owned Pizza Bonez will cement themselves as one of Jacksonville’s staples, as there truly is something for everyone.
Proudly featuring a selection of local, craft Carolina brews, staple beers, and Tito’s Hard Blueberry Lemonade, their 24 tap bar also includes Truly’s Hard Seltzer, which can be customized with over 20 unique flavors, including Piña Colada, Watermelon, Strawberry, and Prickly Pear. The menu includes five signature sandwiches, three signature tacos, and five signature pizzas. Their most exciting pizza is hands down their Tabasco Pizza. With chorizo, roasted red bell peppers, red onions, and banana peppers, this cheesy delight is topped with a flight of three different Tabasco sauces. If you’re worried about heat, don’t be. It was perfect for this white girl.
Pizza Bonez also features over 35 games in their arcade, from shooting hoops and table hockey to Halo and Space Invaders. Operating on a card play system, you play to win prizes, anything from Chinese finger cuffs to Xbox Ones. Included in the entertainment is a karaoke stage which will feature local music artists.
Why offer so much? Why not offer so much should be the real question. By offering customizable drink and menu options, various games for every age level, and offering a stage for those to show off their talent, Pizza Bonez has set out to truly be a local, community experience.
Pizza Bonez is located at 854 Ramsey Road, Jacksonville, next to Carolina Plantations. CRUSH is opening Feb 17th at 4:30 pm and will be open Monday – Thursday from 4:30 pm until closing, and Friday – Sunday from 11:30 am until the music stops. If you’re visiting with children, please be aware that Pizza Bonez is 18+ after 9 pm.
